This doesn't really have anything to do with anything but since I spent like an hour researching it I thought I better do something with it.

On August 4th I went and saw The Cure at Challenge Stadium and it was one of the best gigs of my life.
Ever since I've been meaning to transcribe the setlist and make a mix CD of all the material played that night and I finally got around to it.

Since I'm nuts I went ahead and listed what album every song is from and in what year each album was released.
As you can tell I'm a devil with the ladies.

Interpol show on the 17th of February!

That's cool news.

I was hoping they'd be part of the lineup for the 2008 Big Day Out but this works out a lot better (and probably increases the chances of Spoon being part of the second announcement).

If you haven't checked out Interpol,give them a listen.
They sound pretty much exactly like Joy Division but when a band only records two albums before their frontman kills himself I guess it's okay to pick up where they left off.

Hopefully tickets won't be too expensive.

Thurston Moore - "Trees Outside The Academy"

It wasn’t even on my radar until a week or two before it came out but “Tree’s Outside The Academy” by Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore is quickly looking like it could knock Bloc Party’s “A Weekend In The City” from my coveted album of the year position.

It’s full of beautiful, haunting acoustic guitar work for the most part, almost entirely different from his stuff with Sonic Youth and contains barely any of the “noize” that occasionally threatens to overwhelm my delicate sensibilities.

It’s even got some strings in there!
I’m finding that more and more I’m a sucker for a song with some strings or a horn section incorporated.

Highlights:
Track 3 – “Honest James”
Track 4 – “Silver>Blue”
Track 7 – “Wonderful Witches + Language Meanies”

Downlights:
Track 10 – “Free Noise Among Friends”
I love your work Thurston but this is just pretentious and not really a song at all.
A baffling choice for inclusion.

Closing track “Thurston @ 13”, intriguing as it is, doesn’t make the cut for highlights.
It’s fun to listen too. You get an idea of where he’s coming from and get a clearer picture of what he tries to do with all of Sonic Youth’s musical experiments but you can’t really hum along to it or dance along with it, which as we all know is the only fair judge of how good a piece of music really is.

...Well not really,but I bet someone out there thinks this is true.

Creating a blog in October of 2007 seems kinda superflous but I'm nothing if not a slave to popular culture and if every member of the public has a blog then as a member of the aformentioned public I need one too.
